Visit top sights like the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli, explore the Parco Civico, or hit the shops in the streets around Via Nassa. For the second part of your day, you'll head back to Como, an elegant town packed with churches, parks and palaces. Piazza Cavour is a grand square overlooking the lake, a short walk from many of the major highlights such as the Cathedral with its fine interior, the Villa Olmo and the lakeside gardens.

Separated by a wealth of stunning scenery, the borderlands between Italy and Switzerland are a joy to explore. Climbing high through the glacial Alps, there's plenty of time to grab some epic Instagram snaps before reaching Diavolezza.From here, it's just a short bus ride to the famous Swiss ski resort of St Moritz. With around two hours to explore, you can stop to try Swiss cheese and chocolate in a café and enjoy wow-factor views along the Engadine Valley before returning to resort via the spectacular Maloja Pass and Chiavenna.
