Today Tashkent is the modern capital of Uzbekistan, which practically has not preserved ancient landmarks as opposed to Samarkand, Khiva and Bukhara. But it has its own sights. One of them is the Tashkent Metro, the first underground transport in Central Asia.
Construction of the Tashkent metro began two years later after the destructive earthquake in 1966. Also the increase of population in the capital caused to the construction of rapid and comfortable public transport system. First line of metro opened in 1977 in honor of 60th anniversary of the USSR and connected the most populous district Chilanzar with the center of the city

Welcome to Tashkent. This eclectic city hosts
Russian-speaking cabbies on broad Soviet-built avenues, old
men wearing long traditional chapans (quilted coats) resting
outside of mud-walled houses, and throngs gathering
together before steaming cauldrons for their daily repast of
plov (a popular ethnic rice pilaf dish). With a visit to the
madrasah of Kukeldash we start our explorations of the
historic monuments of the Uzbek capital. This restored Koran
School was built in the 16th century by the grandson of
Timur, an enlightened despot who loved poetry, and today it
is a high school where Islam is taught. Within walking
distance is the Mausoleum of Kaffal Shashi, that together
with the 16th century Barak Khan Madrasah and the Tilya
Shekh Friday mosque (the largest in the city) is part of the
Khast-Imam complex. Today it is the residence of the Mufti,
a high Islamic scholar. Via one of the few authentic Uzbek
districts we finally go to the Chorsu Bazaar. We begin and end our tour by taking a ride in a jewel of Tashkent architecture, local Metro.
Entrance fees to the museum of Quran is 50.000 so'ms. Metro fare is 2.000 so'ms per person.
Tashkent is definitely a city for walking.
And it is more fun to do with professional guide with 5 years of experience.
During the tour, you understand and experience more than what you get on the bus or car tours.
I organize tours based on tips of min of 4 people. Otherwise I can offer only individual paid tour

Duration: approximately 2 hours. The tour does not include entrance fees to the transportation sites.
For millennia, Tashkent has been one of the most important commercial centers on the Great Silk Road. Still here the spirit of the old Muslim East is combined with its colorful bazaars and mosques , the Russian colonial architecture of the late 19th century and the Soviet era with its wide streets and grandiose structures.
A tour of the capital of Uzbekistan can last about 5 hours:
What will we see?
1. Amir Timur Square: the beating heart of Tashkent.
2. El Callejón de Sayilgoh: Known by a more romantic name - Broadway, it is a colorful combination of quiet corners to relax with modern entertainment.
3. Alisher Navoi State Academic Theater is the first opera and ballet theater in Central Asia.
4. The Palace of the Romanovs in Tashkent built in 1891.
5. Independence Square (Mustaqilliq Maidoni) is a kind of park area with fountains, ministries and the Senate, as well as a monument honoring the Uzbek soldiers who fell in WWII.
6. Tashkent Metro: its beauty and grandeur is not inferior to the subways of Moscow and St. Petersburg.
7. Chorsu Bazaar.
8. Ensemble Khazrati Imam - a religious complex in Tashkent. In addition to the buildings, there is a library of oriental manuscripts and Caliph Uthman's Koran. At first, the Quran was in Medina, then in Damascus and Baghdad. The Koran was transported from Baghdad to Samarkand by Tamerlane. In 1869, Usman's Quran was brought to Saint Petersburg, where its authenticity was proven. From there, the Quran was transferred to the city of Ufa, and then it was transported to Tashkent.
I wait for you to discover with a local expert in the city the most surprising corners of it.
