I offer instruction how and when to use the camera's various modes to optimize the photograph you would like to save as a real keeper. Additionally, I offer tips to optimize your opportunities for successful wildlife photography. I can discuss the best composition considerations when framing your shots so you come home with an award-winning photograph. For people who want an extended tour, additional time can be provided for at the time of the tour.

This is a small group rafting and scenic driving tour through the famous Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve with a scenic float trip (no whitewater) through the home of the largest bald eagle congregation in the world. Thousands of bald eagles travel here to feed on salmon in the fall and winter. In spring and summer watch for eagles nesting and raising their young.

See if you can spot bald eagles, harbor seals, and brown bears during this 2.5-hour viewing at Chilkoot Lake State Park. Follow your knowledgeable guide to various scenic spots throughout the park.

The world-famous Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve boasts the largest gathering of bald eagles anywhere in the world! Your adventure begins with a spectacular drive along the National Scenic Byway through the awe-inspiring Chilkat Valley to the heart of the preserve. After a riverside picnic you will board 18-foot inflatable rafts and enjoy a peaceful float (no whitewater) down this ever-changing river. Watch for eagles, bears, moose, and wolves who frequent the preserve to feed on the plentiful spawning salmon. With 7,000-foot-tall peaks towering above as you drift through picturesque landscapes, floating down the river is the best way to take in the grandeur of Alaska. After your river trip, enjoy homemade cookies and hot and cold drinks by riverbank before boarding your bus back to Haines. Your expert guides will drive you along the coastline past the salmon-rich Chilkoot River to the scenic Chilkoot Lake. You'll receive all of the necessary equipment and instruction before heading out onto the water to explore the far reaches of the lake with your guide in a motor-assisted voyageur canoe. Your adventure will wrap up with a beach-side lunch before returning you to the pier.

This spectacular kayaking tour immerses you in the incredible beauty of wild Alaska! You will have the opportunity to see amazing blue glaciers, breathtaking waterfalls, and extraordinary wildlife and fauna. This is a fantastic paddling excursion for all abilities and no experience is necessary.

Meet your knowledgeable guide for a drive to Chilkoot Lake State Park. This park has it all: a turquoise lake surrounded by snowy mountain peaks, a salmon-filled river flowing into the sea, and important Tlingit cultural sights. In May, June and July, the wildflowers are at their peak and eagles caring for their young in the nest. In late July, the river fills with migrating salmon, and harbor seals follow them up into the river where they go to spawn. As the number of salmon in the river increases, so does the chance of seeing bears along the river, with a good probability of bear sightings from early August through late September. As you drive through the park, your guide knows the best places to stop for scenery and the possibility of wildlife spotting. Your guide is equipped with a powerful spotting scope to bring the wildlife in close, and your guide will help interpret the behavior of the various wildlife and explain how the animals fit into the Chilkoot’s complex ecosystem.

The Haines-Skagway Fast Ferry transits the Taiya Inlet of Lynn Canal, the longest and deepest fjord of North America. Three major waterfalls are viewable from the vessel: Long Falls, Twin Falls and Sawmill Falls. Depending on the season and the time of day, humpback whales, bald eagles, and seals can be seen from the inner and outer decks of the vessel. A knowledgeable Naturalist/Guide will be narrating and answering questions about the natural history, the geology, and man's influence upon Taiya Inlet.

Hike your way to the highest point on the Haines Peninsula atop Mt. Riley!  This 6-hour, 5-8 mile adventure will take you up about 1,500 ft to a 360-degree view of the Lynn Canal. Throughout the hike we’ll enjoy some snacks and water on our way to the summit, then enjoy a picnic style lunch before descending back to the trailhead.

Board bus for a 30 minute ride on the Haines Scenic Byway into the heart of the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve to the river dock. On your narrated drive you will enjoy stories of the history of the valley. During your time on the Chilkat River, traverse many different channels and travel 20 miles into the wilderness. You vessel is specially designed to travel on silt-laden rivers which is the only access to a remote roadless portion of the preserve. The preserve has the best moose habitat in the valley, although no guarantees, the chances of spotting moose or bears are very good. Have your cameras ready in case the wildlife provides a once in a lifetime photo opportunity. After returning to the dock, you'll enjoy a riverside picnic. **Wildlife sightings not a guarantee**

Hike over the rolling terrain and through the temperate rainforest of Chilkat Lake State Park in Haines, Alaska!  In our 5 hour adventure, we will be able to enjoy magnificent glacier views from across the fjord as we hike through temperate rainforest and beach-side meadows, known as Moose Meadows.  As we make our way out on to the easily-accessed yet remote beach, we will enjoy a fresh picnic-style lunch before returning to the trailhead.
