Braveheart (Battle of Stirling Bridge) Tour
User rating
Welcome and thank you for your love of William Wallace and his greatest victory at Stirling Bridge. Our dog Molly taught me to welcome visitors to Stirling, give a warm hug and say thank you for taking the time to remember our great heroes who fought, died, and survived at the Battle of Stirling Bridge. Walk in the footsteps of Wallace and young Andrew De Moray and relive the Battle on the site where it took place. We shall discuss the build-up, the main characters involved in the battle as well as present-day initiatives aiming to commemorate the importance of the Battle of Stirling Bridge. Freedom Tour Today is the perfect way for me to welcome visitors to the area and learn more about why so many people hold these historic sites and Scotland dear to their hearts. Thank you. We also do a tour at the Battle of Bannockburn, scene of Robert the Bruce's greatest victory. Sadly Molly passed away in February 2024 with her Mum & Dad by her side. Molly sent Oatly to look after us 🙂

Free Historical Tour of Stirling. Essential
User rating

Explore Stirling on our Free Tour of the historic centre . Throughout Scotland's history, 11 towns were fortified, and Stirling was one of them. You'll walk through impressive streets, such as King Street, where you'll learn about famous poets and the city's most notable buildings. You'll also ascend to the highest part of the city, where the old medieval market and the site of public executions were located.

In the 19th century, Stirling was home to Britain's most horrific prison . It was a damp, unpleasant place, packed with prisoners, including men, women and children. They ranged from petty criminals to adults, from murderers to people awaiting trial and debtors.

On the other hand, the Holy Rude Church in Stirling was the scene of the coronation of King James VI, son of Mary Stuart . Together with Westminster Abbey, this church is the only one still in use and has witnessed such events in Great Britain. A local guide will accompany you through the streets of this beautiful city, where you will discover King Street, the medieval wall , Mercat Cross, the Old Gaol, the Tollgate, John Cowane's Hospital, the Old Burying Ground, Pyramid Star and the Holy Rude Church, among other places.

Itinerary:

  • Historical introduction
  • King Street
  • Athenaeum
  • Medieval Wall
  • Baker Street
  • Merkat Cross
  • Tolbooth
  • Holy Rude Church
  • Old Town Cemetery
  • Castle esplanade

Stirling Classic Gin Tour
User rating
Some couples celebrate their 26th wedding anniversary with a romantic meal June and Cameron McCann decided to go for something different and on October 28th 2015 they distilled their very first bottle of Stirling Gin. Our Story Originally distilled in a 2.4 litre copper still, called Jinty, their spirit proved so popular that a bigger still was soon needed. Stirling Gin has grown into a nationally-recognised spirit. The Old Smiddy Now, more than 4 years, Cameron and June have found a permanent home for their creation. In 2019 they opened the city’s first legal distillery. Located in the shadow of Stirling Castle, the structure was first built in 1888. Legend tells us it was the site where King James V stabled his horses in the 1500s and when it was first built it acted as a local church temperance hall. It only seemed fair that it be the location for Stirling Distillery. With a visitor’s centre & shop Stirling Distillery has plenty to offer. Gin tours and tastings.
