Tours & Activities in Avilés
Avilés preserves a Historic Center that surprises those who visit it. Its ancient origins date back to the Middle Ages, when it received the jurisdiction that elevated the population to the category of town, it was walled and experienced its moment of maximum splendor.
On this historical-artistic tour we will tour the center of Avilés, with its typical arcades, along with the Sabugo neighborhood, the only neighborhood outside the city walls that existed in the Middle Ages in the town.
We will get to know not only medieval Avilés , but also its periods of baroque and modernist splendor.
The guided tour will begin on Calle del Sol , to enter the streets that were walled centuries ago. We will see the importance that its port had for Avilés and we will be able to see emblematic buildings such as the Valdecarzana Palace , the Church of the Franciscan Fathers and the Camposagrado Palace.
We will continue to Sabugo , the old fishing neighborhood. Sabugo was for centuries separated from Avilés, walled by a large marsh, where the Muelle park is located today. There we will delve into the history of the only suburb that existed outside the walled area in the Middle Ages, its streets and its two churches.
The tour will end near the Plaza del Ayuntamiento , on Galiana Street , where we will talk about the baroque expansion and some of the buildings that marked Avilés in the 17th century: the City Hall, the Ferrera Palace and the Julián Orbón music conservatory.
Take note: this tour departs with a minimum of 2 people.

Welcome to the tour of the mysterious, the curious
The one where you will hear stories of ghosts, murderers, robberies, dragons... All of this in the darkness of a medieval town with old palace buildings with ghosts inside, such as Camposagrado or Balsera, and parks such as Ferrera that hold mysteries among their trees.
Do you think you could solve all the mysteries of Avilés?
Dare to do it
Hello little travelers,
I know you think that getting to know a city with a guide is boring...But I'll tell you a secret, it isn't.
How about turning it into a competition?
This will be a tournament like a board game where the squares will be each of the stops on the tour. In the end, only one team will be the winner, who will take home the surprise prize at the end of the tour.
In each box (or each stop on our tour) I will ask you questions, some easy and others not so much , or I will challenge you to find strange things, drawings... in the buildings and streets of the town.
While you play, I will tell you a lot of things: legends, interesting details and stories that the city of Avilés holds. It won't be a history class, I promise .
- What secrets do the trees of Ferrera Park hide?
- What is the pet that lives in Pier Park?
- What cross is hidden in the old church of Sabugo?
- What strange object is on the town hall bells? Who put it there?
- In what strange place is the city's coat of arms?
- What was our city's intercom like?
- How was the mayor of the city elected?
You will discover all this and many other things during the two hours that this tournament will last, which will fly by.
What do you think?
You are brave enough to dare to participate and win...
If the answer is yes, I'll wait for you every Saturday morning at the Muelle Park.
dare to do something different!
Aviles. millennial city. A city where original streets and houses are still preserved where painters, Great Discoverers of the New World or poets of the Great Court of Madrid del Habsburg walked.
I will tell you the popular names and their meanings, including curious anecdotes and stories such as the la'Chichilana cafe or the Bombé promenades. and the curious story of an "influencer" seal in the villa
We will discover palaces with ghosts or churches that "exchanged the saints" or that are "upside down ". A street that turns into a river once a year... a thousand anecdotes and stories that make it the city with the most columns in Spain (almost 4 km of arcades).
We will go from medieval streets and some buildings of that time to large modernist palaces built as residences for the industrialists who arrived from "the Americas" in the 19th century, passing through Baroque palaces and even the jewel of 21st century architecture.
During the 2 and a half hours that we will be together you will discover that Avilés is full of charming corners.
Taking the music kiosk in the Parque del Muelle as a starting point, we propose a quiet walk through the historic center of the Sabugo neighborhood, the origin of the city, and through the emblematic streets of Galiana or Rivero with their houses with the arcades that have made so singular or to contemplate the nineteenth-century Avilés and the beginning of the 20th century with its modernist architecture.
In short, everything that has given it its current character.
Think no more,
WE ARE WAITING!
