Explore rowing on a kayak the beautiful Chagres River before it merges at the Gatun lake where the huge vessels and boats transit from Ocean to Ocean. One of the few places in the world where a community has formed within a volcanic caldera, El Valle de Antón was formed by a massive volcanic eruption approximately 5 million years ago. After the eruption, the volcano's crater collapsed, forming a volcanic caldera. Over time, the volcanic activity ceased, and the crater filled with water, creating a lake. Eventually, the water drained naturally, leaving behind a fertile valley surrounded by mountains and hills, which are remnants of the original volcanic structure.
