This tour is focused on The Cultural Heritage of Berat, a city of 2400 years of age, hence it has a very rich history. In our tour, filled with smiles, energy and entertainment, we will uncover the rich tapestry of this city's iconic landmarks, the UNESCO-listed Berat Quarters, and the mesmerizing Byzantine churches overflowing with history and culture.
Our meeting point will be at the center of the city, in front of the orthodox Cathedral of St. Demetrius.
From there we will head towards the old part of the city which is a complex of three quarters: the Castle, Mangalemi (the one-thousand windows) and Gorica. Then we will pass through a cobbled path to get to the Castle, which is the most beautiful and antique part of the tour.
KEEP IN MIND TO BRING A HAT AND WATER AND ALSO WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES FOR THE VISIT TO THE CASTLE.
Later on, we are going to walk to the complex of the Pasha and the Medieval Center of the city.

I own a traditional house of Berat, which is one of the most beautiful houses here. Is a house of three centuries old, and is full of floral painting on the walls. I will show everyone in my tour a tipical house of Berat and the style of living in different periods.
First, we will visit Gorica. I was born and raised in this historical area and I will explain the history, culture and traditions.
Next, we will explore Mangalem (a quarter of the thousand windows).
We will also explore mosques and churches, and we will also discuss the architectural features of the city.
Finally, we will see the castle of Berat. I will explain the history through the centuries since its construction, including the mythology and the way of life.
We will see the Acropolis, the church of Santa Triadha, the Red Mosque, the water tank, etc.
We will talk about the famous Purple Codex of Berat that was found in the iconographic museum of Onufri. If you are interested, we can tour the museum (they charge a small fee for admission).
After the tour everyone is invited to join me at the restaurant and bar in Gorica for entertainment, food and homemade wine.
